Happy Easter, but beware of black out dates

Easter is a great time of year to travel, visit with friends and family.  However, it's also a common time for the travel industry to slap a "black out" date on any special deals normally offered, or as a lover of rewards programs, being locked out of using hard earned points.  This can be particularly frustrating if one is trying to use frequent flyer miles, or in my case, being locked out of using Amtrak Guest Rewards points to train it back from NYC.

The take away is to read that great fine print ahead that accompanies that service you are trying to obtain so you can plan ahead if a particular date isn't available.
